Earnest Sewn jeans were founded by the Californian designer Scott Morrison, who also co-launched Earnest Sewn's sister brand, Paper Denim Cloth. The brand Earnest Sewn got its name because the jeans are "sewn in earnest". Each pair of jeans is made by just three people:

• The tailor. The tailor sews the jeans together. He / she sews the seams, the pockets, the button hole, the zip - everything. Each person who works on the jeans personally hand stamps them, as does Scott Morrison himself. Because of this attention to detail, the number of pairs of jeans produced each year is limited, which in itself makes them rather sought after.
