18th Amendment are a brand of jeans that have restarted the trend for high waisted jeans. The label was created by entrepreneur Rachel Rose, who named her brand after the law in the US that banned alcohol, known as Prohibition.
Styles are often inspired by and named after movie stars from days gone by, including Lauren Bacall, Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich and Gina Lollabrigida. In addition to high waists, the jeans tend to be slim fitting around the hips with wide legs, for a flattering silhouette. This makes a refreshing change in a market dominated by lowrise jeans. Celebraties seen wearing 18th Amendment jeans include Sienna Miller, Mischa Barton, Kate Moss and Jessica Stam.
18th Amendment are now a must have brand for denim fashionistas all over the world, due to their creator's attention to detail and desire to create a pair of jeans that fit perfectly. 18th Amendment jeans can be recognised by the art-deco wing logo, from the “Flying Lady” of the Rolls Royce. As the Rolls Royce epitomises high quality vintage, so does 18th Amendment.
Rebecca Dawson, the creative director of 18th Amendment jeans has stated: "18th Amendment is a blend of modern and vintage fit, finishing and detailing. We wanted to create a denim label that referenced vintage denim in a way that made it fresh, modern and relevant to today."
